Thank you for my freedom
Remembrance Day is an important day, filled with so many mixed emotions and so much history. For me, it’s a day to give thanks, to reflect and to offer a silent prayer.
Today I think of those who have fallen and those who were left behind. I think of those who continue to serve this beautiful country. To each of them I give my deep heartfelt thanks.
I think of the courage, the bravery, the sacrifice, the commitment and the dedication. I think of the strength, the fear, the victories, the losses. I think of the camaraderie, of the pain and the heartbreak. I think of the stories and the history. I think of the deep love for this beautiful country.
I think of the Mothers, the Fathers, the husbands, the wives, the brothers and sisters, the friends and loved ones.
I think about the full life that I have been blessed with and the opportunities that abound for each of us – because of the bravery and sacrifice of so many.
We cannot take our freedom for granted, nor let it slip away.
To all of those who have served and who continue to serve, I say thank you.
To all of your families and loved ones, I say thank you.
Today I honour each of you and offer my deepest appreciation as I continue to hold in my heart a beautiful vision of peace, love and unity amongst all of humanity and for our continued freedoms.
